Stevenage

Meep Meep! I'm alive and well and haven't decided to come home just yet *g*

A rough summary of my journey so far: Thursday was all packing and farewells. Reached Epping Forest early Friday morning with Viking, camped the night and then headed back to Loughton in the afternoon. Set off from Loughton on Friday evening, made camp just past Waltham Abbey. Walked through Lea Valley park on Saturday and reached Stanstead Abbotts by evening (many unintentional detours). Sunday Michael came to visit me and I didn't walk anywhere. Yesterday I set off at about noon and ended up in a lovely forrest just west of the A1M outside Stevenage.

The forrest west of Stevenage is so lovely - no one really goes there. I have devised a route which serves as an excuse to walk through it. Walking along A roads is very direct and there is little chance of getting lost, but it isn't very exciting. My next major destination is Bedford, as I am heading towards Leicster and the Peak District.

NB: I've only done minimal advertising for this journal. Please pass the journal on to other people I know or who's direction I might be headed in, you just never know... *g*

Now a quick shopping trip to restock my supplies, then back to the forrest...

London.

The last-minute approach. I still have a few things to pack at home, as well as buying books and a map before meeting Viking, getting to Daggenham and then to Epping today. Viking, I should say, has offered to come and camp out with me for the first night. The problem here is that he can't walk that much, so I've hatched a plan of going to Epping forest (by tube) and camping there tonight.

Tomorrow I continue alone northwards. I don't really know where I'm going, although Leicster is one possibility. I will be sure to update when I make it to anywhere sufficiently built up to have an internet cafe.

Some people think I'm crazy. I guess now we get to find out...
